Fancy Pants

Yesterday you got to see one of my sister’s outfits from our weekend adventure, so today you get to see one of mine! Plus, a look at my spontaneous hat purchase. My two weaknesses in the realm of apparel – hats and shoes.

Sister Has Style

My absence since Wednesday is due to fun…I promise. My sister and her boyfriend came to visit and we went on a trip to Luray Caverns, D.C., Baltimore, and a local swimming hole. I’m actually quite amazed at how much we managed to pack into the weekend, but it was a blast.

I really liked my how my sister paired this mustard yellow with tealish-blue (polka dots!). I’ve mentally jotted that down as an awesome combo. So here’s my sister’s outfit, for a change!

Color Obsessions

Rather than doing weekend links, ‘m going to do something a little different. I don’t have a good stock of links to share right now, but I do have some colors that I’m pretty obsessed with. So I’m going to list the colors and share some images of ways to wear them. Sound good? Yeeeaaaah. So here we go.

1. Olive Green. This is my latest obsession. The great thing about it? It’s green, but it’s also a great neutral. Pair it with pretty much anything and it still looks good. (images via modern hepburn, madewell, and out came the sun)

2. Red. Bold. The more tomato-y, the better. (images via kristine or polly, see jane, and sunday crossbow)

3. Coral. SUMMER! There’s a shade for everyone. I especially love it with navy. (images via sidewalk ready, unknown pinterest, and coco+kelly)

About Style…

Style begins with the people passing through one’s life, the harbingers we push against and the stylemakers we want to clone. Some are famous, some not. Style grows from admiration, from longing, from discrimination—and, yes, from love. It’s all the places you’ve been to and the people and the moments you’ve known: the parts you’ve adopted, to keep forever, and transformed. We wear our history in our hearts and on our backs.

Graduation Pictures!

So graduation. I have a B.A. in Media Arts and Design now. It rained during graduation, but since it was sunny at the time they had to decide whether to go with the rain locations or not, we still had our ceremony in the rain. I graduated within a college that contains quite a few schools, so I had to sit through English, Foreign Language, Anthropology, History, Communication, Political Science, Justice Studies, Religion, and Media Arts in Design, so I was thoroughly drenched by the end. It was still fun though, because I got to sit with some friends (they don’t go in alphabetical order – we just hand the announcer a name card as we go up and they read from that). The first several pictures here are from a few days before graduation (the sunny, dry pictures). The last 3 are from graduation day, so I’m quite wet. After graduation, I went to my friends’ grad party and played ninja and sat around and talked for a few hours. After that, I went to their house and just sleepily watched them play video games until about 11pm, cherishing the time with them. Sigh. I’m going to miss it.

As I mentioned yesterday, the dress is via Anthropologie (on sale for $40). The belt is from Target.

I’m Back! And Graduated. And Sad.

Sorry for the long…long, long absence. You see, I graduated on Saturday so I’ve spent every free moment of the past month with friends because we are all going our separate ways and I don’t know when I’ll see them again or how often I’ll see them, and I love them all dearly. *tear* And SO many of them are new friends and I’m not quite satisfied with the short semester I’ve spent with them. I might be depressed for a while about this whole situation. I’d like to just reverse time and relive the past semester (minus the schoolwork and classes part). Luckily, I still get to be a student for the next month because I have one more class I have to take to get my diploma, but unfortunately most of my friends won’t be there. SOOOOO SAD!!! Have I mentioned how sad I am? Very. Sad. *tear #2*

So here’s what I wore today. I’m on an olive kick. I’ve bought two pairs of olive pants recently and I bought a pair of olive toms today (as much as I hate that Toms have become trendy, I can’t resist their comfort and simplicity). I also really like this mint color paired with the olive. PLUS, bonus – I made my sister pose for pictures today too. That pink belt is hot…pink.

And then we saw some deer in the neighbor’s yard…

I think tomorrow I’ll do a post about my graduation. Remember that dress I posted about? Well, I gave in – I got it for $40 and considering it’s $140 original price tag, I’d say it was a pretty good deal!

Weekend Links!

via Pinterest (it was between that picture and this one today)

Happy “Lá Fhéile Pádraig!” Check out these fun links!

Llama font. Very practical, really.

Did you know clouds can be cute? Well, they can. Some of the other “we think things” videos are cool, too, if you have time. Namely, 35mm.

Marc Johns prints are fun. I wasted so much time looking through them. I like this one, this one, and this one reminds me of a certain someone who likes to mock me when I wear plaid.

Typographic chocolate. Too pretty to eat…but not really. I mean, it’s CHOCOLATE.

Finally, a new idea for what to do with all that polymer clay I bought at a yard sale.

March Anthropologie catalog. Be inspired. I’m in love with the umbrella shirt on page 25!

The color wheel game. Wanna waste some time?

And finally, the teaser for a short action film my friend is making. I’m the script supervisor. She bought me a clipboard…so official!

Doggone Great Weekend Links!

a cute puppy to brighten your day via Modern Hepburn

Speaking of dogs, find you doggelganger!

One of my favorite fashion pin boards to follow.

A spaghetti fork?

A beautifully designed online travel magazine. Can’t say I’ve read it, but the design is…well…beautiful.

I randomly encountered this song and it’s been stuck in my head all week. How can such an upbeat song be so sad? :D Silliness.

Happy Almost Weekend!

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend! Tomorrow is my last day of spring break, then I head back to school for the final stretch…the final final stretch. Then I have to go out into the big world and get a job. ahhh.

Windy

Today I spent some quality time with my best friend and my sister. It was lovely. It was also windy. This skirt is a hassle in the wind.
